Robert Fletcher is a scientific researcher and entrepreneur in cleantech, holding a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from the University of New Hampshire. With experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, Robert has advanced research in viral vector purification and oligo therapeutics for rare diseases. Since late 2023, he has served as co-founder and interim CEO of Nanolyx, an early-stage life science company developing eco-friendly antimicrobials to combat resistant microorganisms. Driven by a passion for sustainability and market innovation, Robert blends scientific expertise with entrepreneurial vision to drive impactful change.

Veer is an integral cofounder and former CEO of Nanolyx and is also an MD candidate at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Veer worked alongside Dr. David Medina Cruz in advancing R&D in the Green Chemistry lab, spearheaded commercialization efforts, and navigated accelerators like NSF I-Corps and the National Cleantech Open. His skills shine through exemplary leadership, negotiations with legal entities, technology transfer, and advancing strategic partnerships with academia and industry. Veer is passionate about helping the world realize the innovative potential of green nanotechnology to address global health challenges.

Darshi Shah, MD PhD

Darshi is a cofounder and former COO of Nanolyx and is also an MD/MPH candidate at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. She received her B.S. in biomedical engineering and a B.A. in biology from Boston University. Her team management, operative leadership, and bench-to-market acumen have been crucial to Nanolyx’s initial translational research and commercialization efforts. Darshi brings extensive startup experience and unique industry experience in strategically accelerating new technologies. At the core of her values, she is driven to scale promising medical technologies to improve the lives of the ones who need it the most.

Dr. John Warner, a cofounder of green chemistry, coauthored its defining text with Paul Anastas, introducing the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry. With a BS from UMass Boston and PhD from Princeton, he was a tenured professor at UMass, launching the world’s first green chemistry PhD program, and worked at Polaroid before founding the Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry and Beyond Benign. Holding over 350 patents, he’s developed sustainable technologies for Fortune 500 companies, earning awards like the Perkin Medal and recognition as a Lemelson Invention Ambassador. As President and CEO of The Technology Greenhouse, with global academic roles, Warner advocates for safer, sustainable technologies.

Dr. David Medina, a Northeastern University Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, specializes in biologically synthesized nanomaterials to combat antimicrobial resistance and chemotherapy-resistant tumors, with expertise in chemistry, nanotechnology, microbiology, and gene editing tools like tRNA therapeutics and human artificial chromosome delivery. As founder of The Green Chemistry Lab, he incubated startups including SynCell Biotechnology (selenium nanoparticle therapeutics), Nanolyx Inc (antimicrobial nanocoatings), and Novaurum Biosciences (human-cell-derived nanocoatings for implants), while mentoring biotech entrepreneurs through programs like MIT Solve and Nucleate. A skilled leader, he has served as CFO and board member of ECUSA, a national scientific nonprofit. Dr. Medina is driven to advance science and support researchers, students, and entrepreneurs through innovative solutions and community engagement.
Thomas J. Webster, PhD

Dr. Thomas J. Webster’s degrees are in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh (B.S., 1995; USA) and in biomedical engineering from RPI (Ph.D., 2000; USA). He has formed over a dozen companies who have numerous FDA approved medical products currently improving human health in over 30,000 patients. His technology is also being used in commercial products to improve sustainability and renewable energy. He is currently helping those companies and serves as a professor at Brown University, Saveetha University, Hebei University of Technology, UFPI, and others. Dr. Webster has numerous awards including: 2020, World Top 2% Scientist by Citations (PLOS); 2020, SCOPUS Highly Cited Research (Top 1% Materials Science and Mixed Fields); 2021, Clarivate Top 0.1% Most Influential Researchers (Pharmacology and Toxicology); 2022, Best Materials Science Scientist by Citations (Research.com); and is a fellow of over 8 societies. Prof. Webster is a former President of the U.S. Society for Biomaterials and has over 1,350 publications to his credit with over 55,000 citations. He was recently nominated for the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Prof. Webster also recently formed a fund to support Nigerian student research opportunities in the U.S.

Dr. Val Livada has been active in the innovation ecosystem for over 35 years. He has advised Global 300 type companies, research universities, regional organizations and startups on commercializing technology. Val is working with MIT’s Materials Research and Deshpande Centers to better connect. academia and industry. He is founder of the Corporate Entrepreneurship Network, sits on the Board of Directors of Aphios Corporation, The Built Environment Coalition, AutoHarvest Foundation and Monarch Antenna. He is also advisory board member for Greentown Labs, MassRobotics, MassInnovation Network,  NU’s Advanced Manufacturing Group, and Portugal’s BGI Incubator.  Dr. Livada holds degrees from MIT and Tufts’ Fletcher School and has taught at the Sloan School of Management at MIT and the Questrom School at BU.
